Drop in Bereavement Centre awarded first grant
The Drop in Bereavement Centre is a small community organisation that provides accessible community support services for individuals and families experiencing bereavement in Newham. To date, they have helped over 400 individuals successfully deal with their bereavement.
The Centre was awarded £3,972 through the Give London initiative in early August, with the funding going towards their core costs in support of their counselling services and respite activities. Covering administrative, project management and utility costs – the funding helped enable them to extend the delivery of their projects in the Centre and Sixth Form Colleges and universities. Over the past year they have found an increase in demand for their services and without support of their core costs, the centre would not be able to effectively operate. They’ve also been able to revamp their website.
“The Drop in Bereavement Centre knows that for organisations to achieve extraordinary things, they need the ordinary things i.e. overheads, core costs, staff salaries, revenue costs and administration to be supported through funding. The Give London core costs grant has been a lifeline in enabling the Centre to further its organisational charitable objectives in providing help and support for bereaved persons.” - Staff member on Give London
